"We Need to Stay Healthy & Connected to Do This Thing…"

A little (and, yes, longer-than-I-expected) catch-up video

It’s been a while! And if you count how long it takes to read several posts, it’s about as long as this video, ha! I just felt like hanging out today for a little catch up, and here are some links below to flesh out a few things that I mentioned. Thanks for listening and being here!

Here are a few of the things I mentioned in the video (plus a few additions):

  • The Refuge is a hub for healing community, social action, and creative collaboration serving since 2006. All of the basics are on our website, and here’s our 2024 Community Impact Report, too, to get a quick summary.

  • Here’s a little about the Heart of Broomfield Award in an article in our local paper and the beautiful work of the Broomfield Community Foundation supporting non-profits that serve the community in such essential and diverse ways. It was such a special day and I feel so thankful.

  • Pre-order my friend Melvin Bray’s newest book—UnLearn InEquity: An Invitation to Truth and Transformation. It’s coming soon and I hope it gets in as many hands as possible. In his words, “equity is a practice.” More on Melvin’s work here.

  • This Summer The Refuge is hosting our annual Summer Camp Series, and for 2025 it’s called Rooted & Resourced: Skills and support to stay grounded in turbulent times, and you can join in for any by using this link.

  • If you live in Denver and haven’t gone to the Art in the Park in Aurora Highlands, highly recommend! Our Nature Heals group at The Refuge went on Sunday and it was lovely—incredible and simple sculptures and outdoor installations in the middle of the prairie.

  • June 14th is No Kings Day and actions will be around the US (all details on their site). I wholeheartedly agree with these words on their site: “They’ve defied our courts, deported Americans, disappeared people off the streets, attacked our civil rights, and slashed our services. The corruption has gone too. far. No thrones. No crowns. No kings.”

  • Lastly, if you want some aging goals, my mom who turned 86 yesterday, was out on the kneedboard (again), rocking it to “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor. It’s pretty incredible.

Here’s to staying healthy & connected as we keep doing this thing, together. #keeppracticing

Peace,
